CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT FOR your UNIQUE NEEDS.

Find Your Chi takes an individualized, empathetic approach to acupuncture. We focus on creating a custom and intuitive treatment plan for you, to address what’s happening within your body at a deep level.

We use a range of ancient Eastern medicinal therapies in addition to acupuncture, such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and herbal medicine, to respond to the changes and shifts of your body at each session.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture provides pain relief, reduces stress, and helps restore internal balance through the insertion of hair-thin needles at specific points on the body. The body is internally connected by 12 Meridians - energetic channels that carry Qi, or Chi, meaning vital life force. Acupuncture needles stimulate points along these channels, unblocking stagnant energy and promoting healing.

Discovered nearly 3,500 years ago, acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used healing practices in the world, and is one of the central methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture unblocks energetic pathways, stimulates organs, increases circulation, reduces inflammation, and interrupts pain signaling. It has been used for centuries to treat a wide range of ailments and issues, and it continues to be a successful treatment option for millions of people across the world today.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first appointment is a 2-hour exam, intake, and treatment experience that will begin by discussing your current issues and your medical history. Find Your Chi is centered around energy medicine and the mind-body connection, so we will also empathetically explore your mental and emotional strains and the ways in which your body is manifesting stress.

This initial treatment will be focused on the issues that brought you in, with the goal of relieving symptoms and starting a path forward toward deeper, long-lasting healing and overall wellbeing. Based on this session, we will create a treatment plan and schedule that works best for you.

 FAQs

+ Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are very thin - about the width of a hair - and they are inserted shallowly into the skin. The experience is different for each patient, but most do not feel the insertions, or feel only a minimum amount of pressure or an energetic “twitch” for a moment.

Once all of the needles have been placed, most feel a sense of deep relaxation - and some patients often drift off to sleep! We have had many patients who are nervous or have a phobia of needles, only to discover that they have no anxiety or pain from acupuncture needles.

+ What should I wear?

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is best. If you are asked to remove any clothing in order to access necessary acupuncture points, you will be able to do so privately and will be draped with fabric so that you will be comfortably covered and relaxed throughout the duration of the treatment.

+ What should I bring?

You can complete your intake forms and paperwork online before your appointment, but you may also print them off and bring them with you to your appointment if you prefer. You’re also encouraged to share any labs, imaging, or bloodwork that may be relevant to your treatment.

At this time, we are asking that all patients continue to wear a mask while in the building.

+ What should I eat before my appointment?

We advise against eating a large meal right before your treatment, but coming to your appointment completely famished isn’t ideal either. A light meal or snack before your appointment is recommended, as is drinking plenty of water before and after your treatment to optimize the results.

Please avoid coffee before your appointment if possible, and refrain from consuming alcohol on the day of your appointment.

+ Do you accept insurance?

At this time Find Your Chi is unable to accept insurance, however, we are happy to provide a receipt that you can submit to your provider.

+ Are there any side effects?

Acupuncture does not typically result in any noticeable side effects. Drowsiness can occur after treatments due to the relaxing nature of acupuncture, and occasionally some needle points may result in small, minor bruising. Some patients prefer not to exercise after a session, in order to prolong the healing and regenerative effects of muscle relaxation.

+ What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that patients cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours prior to their appointment time. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be subject to a late fee of $__. No-call, no-shows will be charged in full.

+ How soon will I feel the benefits of acupuncture?

Everyone responds differently - it varies based on the person and the issue. Some patients feel relief and reduced symptoms after just one or two sessions, but it can take ongoing sessions to address and resolve the root of an issue to find lasting healing.

Many patients schedule treatments weekly, but monthly treatments can also reap benefits and progress. Your acupuncturist will work closely with you to find the best treatment plan and supplementary methods you can use at home to optimize your healing process.

+ Can I get acupuncture if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes! Acupuncture during pregnancy can help with nausea, lower back pain, insomnia, and more. Acupuncture for new mamas can be very helpful “me time” that can help remedy exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and balancing hormone levels.
